By the numbers: Scot Center construction milestones to date

With 370 tons of structural steel now set, the Scot Center is really taking shape. Construction is humming along and the building is on track to be enclosed and heated by mid-December.

A few more numbers, provided by Bogner Construction Management Company, give a sense of the enormous amount that has been accomplished since work began in April:

  • 17,200 cubic yards of earth have been moved.
  • 3,1724 cubic yards of concrete have been poured.
  • 30,000 square feet of precast concrete planks have been set.
  • 4.3 miles of piping and conduit have been installed.

And then there’s the economic impact. The project has created approximately 68 full-time construction jobs, while all the materials used so far have been purchased from vendors within a 250 mile radius of Wooster.

370 tons is a lot of steel.
